The People behind Oasis Custom Homes, Inc...

After attending Roger Williams College, School of Architecture, Gary J. Turgeon moved to Virginia to become a partner in Colony Ltd., a Design-Build Firm in Williamsburg. Colony specialized in custom homes with colonial or traditional design. During Gary's 8+ years with Colony, they built over 70 homes many in such pretigious communities as Kingsmill, Ford's Colony and Governor's Land.

Gary moved to South Carolina in 1998 and worked with The Cliffs Communities as the Project Manager. He worked as the developer's representative on such projects as The Chapel at Glassy Mountain, Keowee Lake House, Cliffs Valley Swim and Tennis Facility, and The Valley Clubhouse. Although Gary enjoyed the development part of the construction business, he yearned for the more personal, residential side again.

Oasis Custom Homes opened its doors in 2000 with a quality over quantity approach to building and remodeling homes. Gary is intimately involved in every house Oasis builds, limiting the number of custom homes built per year in order "to provide the personal service and attention each homeowner deserves".

In 2003, Lori K. Elkins-Turgeon retired from Country Club management to join the Oasis team. The past years specializing in club and restaurant start-ups, planning kitchen layouts, selecting lights, silverware, carpet... and interior design would prove useful in her new career. As a second generation selections specialist, Lori believes it was "in her blood" always, it just took a couple of years and marriage to a builder to bring it out. Lori now manages the office, supervises the interior design of spec. homes, and helps custom clients with their selection decisions. From colors to window coverings, from start to finish, Lori is the clients' liaison to the suppliers and sales people who will help make your house a home.

Josh Carter graduated from the business school at Emory University in 1995 with a degree in accounting and finance. After a few years in the Washington D.C. area doing management and IT consulting, Josh realized that sitting in an office all day, every day wasn't for him. In 2000 Josh moved to South Carolina, opened Fieldstone Development Group, LLC and began flipping houses.

In 2002, Josh bought a property in the downtown area of Greenville with the intention of fixing it up and re-selling it. He and Gary began discussing the project and decided to tear down the house and build two new speculative homes instead. Both houses sold quickly and Josh and Gary have been building homes together ever since.

Josh lives in the Augusta Road area of Greenville and primarily runs the downtown projects for Oasis. There are several projects from small renovations to larger new construction homes in this area and we pride ourselves in being comfortable enough to live literally next door to our clients.

The Team...

We believe that Oasis isn't just Gary, Lori and Josh. We are a team with our supervisors, suppliers and craftsmen. Working together our ultimate goal is to build the highest quality home unique to each client while maintaining fair pricing and honest business practices.

We consider ourselves to be a team with our homeowners also, working to translate their dreams into reality...into an Oasis, a place of comfort and happiness. To us, we are not just building a home, but a relationship that will last a lifetime.
